Althea Vega Takes On Cinemalaya

Althea Vega is an actress getting lots of attention especially after her performance in “Diablo” which won Best film in the New Breed category of the recently concluded Cinemalaya. She plays the lover of Roeder Camañag who introduces her as Angela, a caregiver for his mom. Ama Quiambao is in the role of the mother and incidentally won Best Actress. Roeder was cast as the black sheep son Alberto. They have steamy sex scenes when mom is tucked away in the bedroom.
“Diablo” is only one of two films in Cinemalaya, that features the young morena beauty. Althea is also in “Ang Katiwala” by Aloy Adlawan, she is the loving wife of Dennis Trillo who gets sent off to Manila to as caretaker to Pres. Manuel L. Quezon’s mansion. Althea is also an accomplished Flamenco dancer who can perform at events with her teacher Juan Antonio Delos Reyes.
Apart from the two big Cinemalaya films, Althea was cast in a British produced and directed film “Metro Manila” by Sean Ellis. The film had an exclusive screening at the posh Resorts World Manila for cast and crew last July 12. One of the lead actors in “Metro Manila” is Jake Macapagal who is also in another Cinemalaya 8 film POSAS by Lawrence Fajardo.
Last November, Althea was in a Cinema One film “Mga Anino Sa Tanghaling Tapat” by Ivy Universe Baldoza. She had a hot masturbation scene and a lesbian affair with lead actress Martha Comia.
Althea confessed that she was able to get into the role of Edna in “Ang Katiwala” very easily. She grew up in Cagayan Valley and her role was the young wife in the farm in Quezon province is not that different form her roots. Although Direk Aloy Adlawan said that she had to prepare herself with the accent and mannerisms of the people from Quezon province. She was able to do research by watching videos on YouTube and see how they move and listen to how they speak.
